Oscar Abolafia - Photo Andy Warhol (1968)
Andy Warhol with his ‘superstars’ at the Whitney Museum of American Art New York City 1968.
No other photographer has captured the hidden world of American glitz and glamour as well as Oscar Abolafia. As a friend and personal photographer of the Kennedy's and celebrities such as Andy Warhol, Elisabeth Taylor and the young Michael Jackson, the artist was a welcome guest at intimate parties and on movie sets in New York and Hollywood. Where other journalists were banned, Abolafia (in service of world famous magazines like People Magazine, Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar and the immensely popular The Tonight Show) got access. His carefully staged portraits, news photos and quick snapshots shot in smoky lounges and aboard gleaming monster yachts and private jets, are a tribute to the rich and famous – a unique portrait of the wild Rock ‘n’ Roll Era and the emerging pop culture.
Cousin of the master photographer, Ellis Kamerling, published her famous ancestor's work in limited edition and called it ‘The Virgin Collection’. Available exclusively online - max 100 pieces - at VIDA REAL in different formats (XL, L, M, S).
